While in Utah....

... One of the things I really wanted to do while in Utah was take a nice family picture at this nice spot that I saw the last time we were up there. I had matching dresses for the girls that I had gotten soon after I found out that we were having another girl and thought they'd be perfect for our Spring Family portrait. Well...the weather was not what I thought it was going to be while we were there. It was freezing and either drizzling or snowing, but one of the days the sun had peeped out for a bit and it wasn't too cold so we decided to give it a "shot". Here's what we got. At first I was a little frustrated, but then I thought "these are hilarious!" I must share with all who have children!! This pretty much tells the story of our day and what it was like trying to get a nice family photo!

I start the day off with my eyes closed in the first shot. Way to go mommy! Daddy is squinting and Maddie is already unhappy!

Maddie tries to tickle Riley to get her to smile (Ok, that's a little cute, I guess) and... daddy is squinting.

Sandals are falling off in stagnant water and Maddie is crying for her toy turtle!

Eyes closed AGAIN, love that Riley is grabbing her feet, and Maddie is DONE taking pictures! Oh and Glen is STILL squinting!

Maddie...crying.... again. Glen...Squinting...AGAIN!

Getting a little better. Kind of a personality shot. Glen+Sun= SQUINTING!!!

Not too bad of a picture, but... EVERYONE is squinting!! :D
These are only a few out so many that we took. The battery to the camera died mid-upload so there are more even funnier ones! Like the one that has a close up of snot dripping from Maddie's nose or the tears in her eyes, that which I will post later. Funny, funny, funny! Hope you got some kind of comical relief from our failure to capture a nice shot of our whole family!
Luckily, this is not the end of our try to get our Spring Family Portrait.
To be continued....

Sending off a missionary!

What a wonderful feeling it is to take a missionary to the MTC!

Laurel, Glen's younger sis, will be heading off to serve in Fiji, New Caledonia (a French speaking mission) after she spends a couple months in training at the MTC! She sent a letter home last week and is doing fine and enjoying her time there. Of course she misses home, but doesn't have too much time to think about missing us. It was just so great to be a part of taking her.

There were lots of happy tears!

One more squeeze with the girls before she's off for 18 months!

We're all so proud of Laurel and her decision to serve the Lord.
